Here we go folks! a repeat of one of our most cherished events that we attend each and every year.!!
The Vermont Farm Show had its 1st show in 1931.
Cabot co-op had been producing Dairy Foods several years before that starting in in 1919. which makes this year extra special since it's their 100th Birthday.
Dairy has always been a part of Vermont, when the first settlers came here they brought cows to nourish their families and to graze the land.
Dairy Farming really took off in the 1850's, and by 1880 there was around 35,000 farms here, the most in state history.
With no refrigeration during those times milk was turned into cheese and butter before it spoiled, so you can see why Cabot was able to sustain through those times up until refrigeration came into play in the 1880's
The Farm show has ran every year at a couple of different locations except for a brief hiatus during WWII.
So here we are now at the 2019 Vermont Farm Show
You Ready ? Yeah me too so lets get rolling.
Had my favorite kind of ride over to Essex Junction, "Uneventful"
Got there a little too early for the normal setup time but found my Buddy "Kees" who has the overnight security detail and he let me in, helped me unload,
and it was a pretty chilly morning. "Thanks Buddy" !
Once I got in and located my spot, the same one we have been in for a while now,
I got all set up and then boogied over to got me some coffee before the whistle

"Bessie" Standing Guard over my work station while I was away.

That passed out some awards quite early in the event this lady came over to the table and told me she won an award for her bread and she used exclusively Cabot unsalted butter and Cabot cheese to make her bread so I went around the corner and took her picture but like a dummy forgot her name and her business but I'm sure it will show up on the website at some point.

Nationwide's slogan is "Nationwide is on your side " I certainly cannot refute that because that has been the case now for a few years.
Mary the lady in the picture also happens to be a Cabot co-op member as well.

Even tho we were exposed to bad weather for the whole event it was still well attended by all facets of the population
Two Legged

and four legged

It was well attended and busy most of the time, the 2nd day schools were closed and some FFA districts did not make it over but many did and that is always a fun day since they are all so enthusiastic about the event.
Cabot field Rep Luke was gracious enough to stop by everyday and offer me a chance to take a short break and I am thankful for that
Day 3 was the day for the Vendors breakfast and passing out awards and things went well with that and about half way through the day I heard this loud blaring sound coming over the intercom which sound like a crow squawking turned out to be the fire alarm and we all had to vacate the building so I boogied on out and sat in my vehicle until that was over.
The Essex firefighters arrived quickly and took care of the problem I think they said someone leaned a broom against a propane water heater and after a time I guess the broom caught fire setting off sprinklers and alarms.
Things got back under control within about an hour or so.
A little later they came by and presented our table with the best of show award for the 2nd straight year and and this year we scored a perfect score of 200 which is the maximum available points.

I had my neighbor Mary who is a Cabot Farmer and Marilyn who is a Cabot Rep from downstate pose with the best of show award and I thank them for that, much more pleasant to look at than Me and Luke..:-)
Thank You Ladies !!

I'm also posting a picture of Jed with the
John C Finley Memorial Award for 2019.
Congratulations !!

So it was a great event for The co-op and the Cabot Farmers especially since they are celebrating their 100 Birthday.
I had made a promise that I would sing Happy Birthday as a last resort if I could not find someone to do it, but as my deadline was approaching this very enthusiastic family showed up and lucky for all concerned they were more than happy to sing it for me.

So thank you for stepping up.
So that is all from this year it's always a fun and worthwhile event and so Happy I could be a part of it.
