VT. Adaptive Charity Ride

9th Annual

Vermont Adaptive Charity Ride presented by Long Trail Brewing

~0~

The Vermont Adaptive Charity Ride formed in 2010 and was formerly known as the Long Trail Century Ride which was created through a partnership between Vermont Adaptive, Long Trail Brewery, Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, Killington Resort, the Lookout Tavern, and many other local businesses in the Killington region.

The goal of this annual charity event is to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling while at the same time raising funds for a nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreational equipment to people with disabilities, and what a blessing that is.

And we are so Happy to be here today representing the Cabot Farmers who are always receptive in helping others, especially those who are challenged with disabilities .

So lets saddle up and ride !!!

Uh, Never mind, you guys saddle up and ride, Kim~mi and I will help out with the fuel.

After last years shortened event due to heavy rain I was a little concerned about the weather since we have been hit with a lot of rainy days this year as well, but as I was leaving the ranch it looked pretty promising.

As I got near Bridgewater some bikers started showing up along the roadway.

So I arrived, found my way on in and located our assigned spot

We had a nice spot right between the food tent, gift tent and the beer stand.

Nice being able to park behind our site which makes it much better.

So Kim~mi and I got right to it and got the basics ready to go.

Since this was an Athletic based event the Whey Powder drew a lot of attention.

Questions about quality, availability, benefits, and price which was great.

Of course we could not help but honor our hard working farm families .

As luck would have it we were right next to "Red Kite Candy"

Mainly a Taffy and Caramel type goodies.

Which is very good !!

Kim~mi spotted this guy with a Cabot Logo on the back of his shirt so I went over and asked him about it and he was very happy and said that Cabot sponsored his Burlington Rugby Team.

So we brought him over to the tent & presented him some Cracker Cuts to match his attire .

Once things got going we had a steady stream of patrons at the table or hanging out in front of it all day.

It was nice having Kim there for the day we had a great time & stayed busy .

Later on the wind gusts picked up in frequency and speed, luckily we had ample anchorage for the tent but table decorations and information got blown around several times

But it was still a beautiful day, dry, warm and sunny and the wind kept the bugs away.

We were right next to the food tent which was handy for visibility, and food of course.

We could stare directly across the site and stare at the

Teton "Live The Dream" Trailer, and we were Living the dream so it was appropriate.

The Crowd stayed pretty active all day and we had a nice gathering of participants in front of our tent all day which was very inspirational for us to look at and realize what some people have to endure while we take our situation for granted, and how worthwhile this event is to be a part of.

So Kim and I had a great day, a photography vendor was on site and presented us with a Cabot Placard that they created and I really liked it and I cannot believe I forgot to get the name of the company :-(

The successful bidder for the gift bag came by and proudly displayed it to us, he has a gathering at his home later on so he said I am now well prepared for our refreshments.

Sharing the Love of The Worlds Best Cheddar with a # 1 Cabot Fan sporting a Cabot decal on his hat while working his security detail.

It was a great and busy day nothing but all positive feed back even had a lady stop by from Australia and she is now a Cabot fan as well.

So it was a fun worthwhile day and glad we could be a part of it.

Till Next time

YWCA Camp Hochelaga Centennial Celebration

This YWCA Camp "Hochelaga" is an Iroquoian name meaning "Beaver lake" derived from a St Lawrence Iroquoian 16th century fortified village at the heart of, or in the immediate vicinity of, Mount Royal in present-day Montreal, Quebec. The Camp itself tho is located in South Hero VT. right on Lake Champlain which was named of course after French explorer Samuel De Champlain.
Isn't history fun and interesting ?
Even More interesting is the fact that, Camp Hochelaga and the Cabot co-op, are both celebrating their
100th Birthday this year.

So let's just go ahead and light the candles and let the fireworks begin !!!
Never mind ! 200 candles might be overkill, but we will light up the place even without all the the candles..

This was an outdoor event so as I was loading the Van for my trip over to the lake, I was a bit worried about wind and rain since I had a nice
"Red Sky in Morning,
Sailors take warning"
View.

Upon arrival it was windy and cloudy.

Not much going on but the Young Women Volunteers were busy getting things ready.

Tricky getting set up since there was a nice breeze as I got ready.
I was in the heart of activity at the entrance so I was happy about that.

Nothing would stay put on the table so I had to clip or weigh everything down
but at least it wasn't raining.
I drove tent stakes into the ground at each corner so I wouldn't go sailing on the lake.

So as the starting time arrived I was all loaded up and ready to go.
Quite a few questions about the Whey Powder throughout the day.

The dual Centennial Celebration drew a lot of attention from everyone.

Pre-op Prep Room

Board of Directors President Mrs Moe Kaplan stopped by to welcome, thank and acknowledge the Cabot Farm Families for their support by being here today.

Sign in table for attending the event

They divided the visitors into groups and did tours starting under the flag pole
and walked around the facilities.

And of course everyone stopped at the Cabot Tent to try the cheese, express their gratitude for us being there and extol the virtues of their favorite cheese.

There was a very consistent line of visitors at the entrance all day.

And of course a very consistent, happy and smiling crowd at the table all day as well, they said I didn't look like I was a hundred years old !

An exciting happy faced crowd so it was a very worthwhile event for all concerned.
You can tell by this crowd which cheese was the favorite of most of the young'ns
~0~
At the closing of the event Executive Director Deb Sawyer (holding the Mic)
and Camp Director Hannah Bogard to her left were lake side giving their closing remarks, which I was not taping of course, but they acknowledged and thanked Cabot for being there which drew cheers and applause from everyone, which was very nice.!!

Following that we all folded the tents, packed up and headed back home and as I was crossing the lake on my way back home, I was thinking well so much for the bad weather day, other than the wind early, and there was nothing cheesy about the day at all, other than what was on my table, turned out to be a beautiful sunny day.

In case you didn't watch the news there was a story about the event on WCAX.

WCAX Broadcast of the day.

Ok Thats it for me & Glad I could be a part of a great event.
